RIW is seeking an experienced Trusts & Estates Associate to join its established and growing practice. The role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer, trust administration, and probate matters for a diverse client base, including high-net-worth individuals and families, fiduciaries, business owners and closely held businesses. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with attorneys and professional advisors while providing practical, client-focused counsel and contributing to the continued growth of the Trusts & Estates practice.
Key Responsibilities:
Draft and implement estate planning documents, including revocable trusts and ILITs
Draft and implement sophisticated estate planning documents, including SLATs, ILITs, IDGTs, QPRTs, and GRATs and related wealth transfer strategies including gifting and installment sales of business interests
Preparation of family limited liability companies and limited partnerships
Counsel clients regarding estate, gift and generation-skipping transfer tax planning
Advise fiduciaries on trust and estate administration matters
Handle probate and trust administration matters from inception through closing
Prepare and review estate and gift tax returns
Collaborate with accounts, financial advisors, and other professional advisorsParticipate in business development and client relationship activities
Contribute to the continued growth of the Trusts & Estates practice
Requirements
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school
Admission practice in Massachusetts
5+ years of Trusts and Estates experience
Strong experience with sophisticated estate planning and administration matters
Working knowledge of general estate, gift and GST tax planning
Excellent drafting, analytical and communication skills
Ability to manage client relationships independently; portable business a plus
